Kris Duer, JD
Kris serves as Trust Officer out of our Chicago office. In his current role, he specializes in administering guardianships for minors and disabled adults, special needs trusts, and estate settlement. Kris assists beneficiaries and their families, as well as partners with attorneys and consultants, in creating effective plans and solutions to meet each client’s unique needs and goals.
Prior to joining Midland Trust Company, Kris was an accomplished attorney and practiced law for over 20 years. He gained extensive experience in probate and trust administration, estate planning, wills and trusts, and guardianships and conservatorships. Kris applied skill and proficiency with tax planning and succession planning, real estate planning including 1031 exchanges, civil law, and mediation. He brings deep understanding of sophisticated estate planning including grantor retained trusts, charitable trust, and private annuities.
Kris served over a decade in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve, including leadership ranks, demonstrating discipline, integrity, and teamwork. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Iowa State University and his Juris Doctor degree from University of Miami School of Law.
